Gladstone Road & Stenhousemuir FC

In 1928 a building warrant was granted to a Mr. A. McCowan to add a bathroom to a house in Gladstone Road – the street next to his toffee factory. Gladstone Road is also the home of Stenhousemuir Football Club and has been since 1890. An examination of old football programmes in my possession suggests that McCowan may have had an affinity with the club, as advertisements for his products were regularly found in match day publications. You can see the advertisements for McCowan’s in the Stenhousemuir FC image gallery provided.
