Lockdown Stories: The Youth Music Initiative

Our collection of lockdown stories captures Falkirk's heritage in the aking, by exploring the extraordinary times we live in today.

The Youth Music Initiative (YMI), Falkirk, work with a wide variety of musicians who specialise in styles ranging from opera to traditional music. During lockdown, the YMI Falkirk tutors completed challennges set by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. In the images below the tutors used household objects as instruments.

They also came together virtually to create a fusion of styles to celebrate the amazing work of keyworkers. You can see their performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow above.

Our Lockdown Stories collection was collated by our Great Place Digital Heritage Placement and Lockdown Stories Coordinator, Lorna Keddie.
