Several locals recall life in Falkirk’s foundries and factories. There were two foundries in Bo’ness and nine in Denny, which developed products such as baths, telephone boxes, post boxes and more. Jim worked as a coker burner, Aileen’s dad made baths, Mrs Shaw worked in a shirt factory, and George was a pattern cutter at Grahamston ironworks. They discuss life in the factories, the decline of industry and describe some of the characters that worked in the factories and foundries, like Harry the Seagull with his false teeth, and one man with his pet rat…
Mrs Shaw, George McKenzie, Gary Welsh, Aileen Patterson, Jim Ramage, and David Dawson were interviewed by each other, Russ Edwards, and Rebecca Shaw.
